ABOUT YAHUSHA (STRONG'S #H3091)
WHO IS YAHUSHA?
If you have never heard of Yahusha before and you want to learn more about who He is, this is a great starting place. Spoiler alert: Yahusha is the Son of Yahuah—the Messiah and our Savior. His Name means “Yahuah saves” or “Yahuah is salvation.” Just as the Most High has a Name, His Son has a Name too!
The Name — “Yahuah Saves”
Yahusha is the shortened Hebrew form that means “Yahuah saves.” It preserves the “Yahu-” that points back to the Father’s Name.
“She shall give birth to a Son, and you shall call His Name Yahusha, for He shall save His people from their sins.”

Son, Not the Father
We affirm: Yahusha is not Yahuah. He is the Son of Yahuah, sent to do the Father’s will and to point us to the Father.

The Hebrew Spelling of Yahusha (יהושע)
Strong’s H3091 — “Yahuah Saves”
- YOD (י) — “Y” sound
- HEY (ה) — “Ha” sound
- WAW/UAU (ו) — “U” sound
- SHIN (שׁ) — “Sh” sound
- AYIN (ע) — often silent in English, can carry a subtle “ah” sound at the end

Why We Say “Yahusha” (not “Jesus”)
No “J” sound. Ancient Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek had no letter “J.” The English “J” is recent, so the Messiah’s Name could not have started with it.
Same as Joshua. The Hebrew name יהושע (Yehoshua) is translated “Joshua” in the Old Testament. It also appears in shortened forms like Yahushua or Yahusha—all meaning “Yahuah saves.”
How “Jesus” developed. Hebrew Yehoshua → Greek Iēsous → Latin Iesus → English “Jesus.” This process changed the sound and dropped the “Yahu-” that points to the Father.
Consistency. In the Greek text, both Joshua and the Messiah are written Iēsous. English Bibles translate one “Joshua” and the other “Jesus.” Using Yahusha keeps the Hebrew sense consistent.
Yahusha vs. Yahushua: Both forms appear in Hebrew Scripture and both mean “Yahuah saves.” We use Yahusha for clarity and readability while honoring the Father’s Name.
Our Passover Lamb
Yahusha gave His life as the spotless Lamb, fulfilling the picture of the Pesach (Passover) offering. His blood redeems and brings forgiveness of sins.

Yahusha is the Son of Yahuah, our Redeemer, our Passover Lamb, and our Master. Through Him, we are restored to Yahuah and called to walk as faithful disciples until His return.
