Scriptually, elders pray (Acts 6:4; James 5:14), they teach the Word (Acts :4; 2 Timothy 4:1-5), they shepherd (Acts 20L29; 1 Peter 5:1-5), lead by example (Hebrews 13:7, Titus 2:7), and raise up elders (2 Timothy 1:14; 2:2). Part of shepherding includes availing themselves for counsel, consult, or just getting to better know their local flock.
