The Covenant of Redemption

Preparing for Pesach (Passover) and Unleavened Bread

Exodus 12:13
“When I See the Blood, I Will Pass Over you.”

Today we stand at the threshold of Yahuah’s Set Apart Calendar. The Pesach (Passover) and the Feast of Unleavened Bread are the Moedym – Appointed Times of Yahuah.

Leviticus 23:4

‘These are the Feasts of Yahuah, Qadush (Holy) Gatherings which you Shall Proclaim at their Appointed Times.’

They belong to the Creator, and they Reveal the Work of Yahusha our Mashyach and the Guidance of the Ruach HaQudesh (Set-Apart Spirit).

The Head of the Year – Beginning of Months

Exodus 12:1–2

“Now Yahuah spoke to Musha (Moses) and Aharon in the land of Mytsrym (Egypt), saying, ‘This Month Shall be your Beginning of Months; it Shall be the First (1st) Month of the Year to you.’”

Exodus 23:15

“You Shall Keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread… in the Month of Abib (the Month of Green Ears).”

Redemption is initiated by Yahuah. Spiritually, your Redemption is Your Beginning. Yahuah Resets Time Based on Redemption. Time is Sanctified by Yahuah’s Acts, Preparing for Pesach (Passover) means Resetting our Spiritual Clock for the upcoming events.

The Substitute Lamb

“The Tenth (10th) Day”: This is the Selection Day. Four (4) days of Inspection.

Exodus 12:3–5

“Speak to all the Assemblies of Yasharal, saying: ‘On the Tenth (10) of this Month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his Father, a lamb for a Household… Your lamb shall be without Blemish, a Male of the first (1st) Year.’”

1 Peter 1:18–19

Knowing that you were not Redeemed with Corruptible Things… but with the Precious Blood of the Mashyach, as of a Lamb without Blemish and without Spot.

“Without Blemish”: Yahuah Demands Perfection in the Sacrifice because He is Perfect. The Lamb Represents the Sinner (you), but the Lamb must be Perfect because the Sinner is not.

“A Lamb for a Household”: Salvation is Individual (you Must Eat it), but Preparation is Familial. You are Responsible for Your Household’s Inspection of the Lamb. Preparation for Pesach (Passover) Requires Inspection. Just as the lamb was Inspected from the 10th to the 14th, we must Examine our Hearts.

Lamentations 3:40

Let us Search Out and Examine our Ways, And Turn Back to Yahuah;

Is Yahusha (the Lamb of Yahuah) Perfect? Yes. Do we see Him as our Household’s Covering?

The Blood Atonement

Exodus 12:7, 13

“And they Shall take some of the Blood and put it on the Two (2) Doorposts and on the Lintel of the Houses where they Eat it… And the Blood Shall be a Sign for You on the Houses where you are. And when I See the Blood, I Will Pass Over you.”

Hebrews 9:22

Without Shedding of Blood there is no Remission of Sin.

Hebrews 11:28

By Amunah (Faith) Musha (Moses) Kept the Pesach (Passover) and the Sprinkling of Blood, lest he who Destroyed the Firstborn Should Touch them.

“On the Doorposts and Lintel”: This Forms the Shape of a Hebrew letter Tau, in Pictograph, which means Sign, Mark, Covenant). A Covenant Sign of Allegiance.

𐤕
ת

Tau (Taw) — the Last Letter of the Hebrew Aleph-Bet
Sign, Mark, Covenant — A Covenant Sign of Allegiance
The Doorposts and Lintel Form the Shape of this Letter in Pictograph. The Paleo Hebrew Tau (𐤕) is a Mark of Covenant — the Shape the Blood Made on the Houses of Yasharal (Israel).

“A Sign for You”: The Blood was not for the Neighbors to See. It was not a Public Badge of Honor. It was for Yahuah to See (Witness), for Your Protection.

“When I See the Blood, I Will Pass Over”: Note: Yahuah does not say, “When I see your Good Works,” or “When I See your Tears.” He looks only at the Blood of the Lamb (The Covenant Sign).

Hebrews 9:14

“How much more shall the Blood of the Mashyach… Cleanse your Conscience from Dead Works to Serve the Living Alahym?”

Hebrews 12:24

“To Yahusha the Mediator of the New Covenant, and to the Blood of Sprinkling,” Speaking a Better Thing than that of Abel.

The Door of Your Heart (You are the Temple)

Revelation 3:20

“Behold, I Stand at the Door and Knock.”

John 10:9

I am the Door. If anyone enters by me, he will be Saved and will go in and out and find Pasture.

The Door of your Mouth (what you Speak)

Psalm 141:3

Set a Guard, O Yahuah, over my Mouth; Keep Watch Over the Door of my Lips.

The Door of Your Eyes and Ears (what you Allow in)

Psalm 119:37

“Turn my Eyes Away from Worthless Things; Preserve my Life According to your Word.”

Matthew 13:15

For the Hearts of these People have Grown Dull. Their Ears are Hard of Hearing, And their Eyes they have Closed, Lest they should See with their Eyes and Hear with their Ears, Lest they Should Understand with their Hearts and Turn, So that I Should Heal them.’

We No Longer Apply Physical Blood to Physical Doorposts because the Lamb has been Slain once for all.

Hebrews 10:7–10

Previously saying, “Sacrifice and Offering, Burnt Offerings, and Offerings for Sin You did not Desire, nor had Pleasure in them” (which are Offered according to the Turah), then He said, “Behold, I Have Come to Do Your Will, O Yahuah.” He takes away the First (1st) (Covenant, Ritual Sacrifices) that He may establish the Second (New Covenant, Ultimate Final Sacrifice). And by that Will, we Have Been Set Apart (Santified) through the Sacrifice of the Body of Yahusha Ha Mashyach Once for All (who would Believe).

Romans 3:25

Yahuah Presented Him as an Atoning Sacrifice in His Blood through Amunah (Faith), in Order to Demonstrate His Righteousness, because in His Forbearance He had Passed Over the Sins Committed Beforehand.

John 6:32–35

“Then Yahusha said to them, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, Musha (Moses) did not Give you the Bread from Shamym (Heaven), but My Father Gives you the True Bread from Shamym (Heaven). For the Bread of Yahuah is He who Comes Down from Shamym (Heaven) and Gives Life to the World.’ Then they said to Him, ‘Master, Give us this Bread Always.’ And Yahusha said to them, ‘I am the Bread of Life. He Who Comes to Me Shall Never Hunger, and he Who Believes in Me Shall Never Thirst.’”

John 6:53–54

“Unless you Eat the Flesh of the Son of Adam and Drink His Blood, you Have No Life in You. Whoever Eats My Flesh and Drinks My Blood has Eternal Life.”

The Physical Act of Eating Bread and Drinking Wine is a Memorial.

Luke 22:19

And He took Bread, Gave Thanks and Broke it, and Gave it to them, saying, “This is My Body which is Given for you; Do This in Remembrance of Me.”

The Spiritual Reality is Amunah (Faith). Without that Amunah (Faith), you have “No Life in You” (Spiritual Death, Separation from Yahuah).

The Life of the World

John 6:51

“I am the Living Bread which Came Down from Shamym (Heaven). If Anyone Eats of this Bread, He Will Live Forever; and the Bread that I Shall Give is My flesh, which I Shall Give for the Life of the World.”

“Living Bread” Contrasts with the Manna in the Wilderness (Exodus 16). That Bread Sustained Physical Life temporarily, but those who ate it Still Died.

John 6:49–50

“Your Fathers Ate the Manna in the Wilderness, and are Dead. This is the Bread which Comes Down from Shamym (Heaven), that One (1) May Eat of it and not Die.”

“Flesh” here means the Physical Body of Yahusha, which was Sacrificed on the Stake. To “Eat” His Flesh means to Personally Receive and Partake in the Benefits of His Death, just as Eating Physical Bread Nourishes your Body, so does Trusting His Sacrifice Nourish your Soul.

Yahusha clarifies that He is not Speaking of literal Cannibalism: The Turah Strictly Forbids Eating Human Flesh or Drinking Blood (Leviticus 17:10-14). “Flesh Profits Nothing” means that the Physical, Material Body of Yahusha (as a Corpse) cannot Give Life unless it is Received by the Ruach through Amunah (Faith). The Way to “Eat” His Flesh is to Believe His Words, the Entire Revelation of His Sacrifice.

Jeremiah 15:16

“Your Words were Found, and I Ate them.”

Therefore, Yahusha Spoke a Spiritual Truth, not a literal Command to Consume Human Flesh. You Eat His Flesh when you Accept that His Body was Broken for Your Sins. You Drink His Blood when you Accept that His Blood Atones for Your Sins. This happens through Amunah (Faith), not through a Physical Ritual.

1 Corinthians 11:24–25

and when He had Given Thanks, He Broke it and said, “Take, Eat; this is My Body which is Broken for you; Do this in Remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the New Novenant in My Blood. Do this, as Often as you Drink it, in Remembrance of Me.”

“Living Bread” means Yahusha Himself has Life in Himself. He is Not Dead Bread; He is Resurrected, Eternal Bread.

John 5:26

For as the Father has Life in Himself, so He has Granted the Son to Have Life in Himself,

Revelation 2:7

He Who has an Ear, let him Hear what the Ruach says to the Assemblies. To the One (1) Who Conquers I will Grant to Eat of the Tree of Life, which is in the Paradise of Alahym.’

Genesis 3:22

Then Yahuah said, “Behold, the Man has Become Like One (1) of us in Knowing Good and Evil. Now, lest he Reach out his Hand and Take also of the Tree of Life and Eat, and Live Forever.”

Proverbs 11:30

The Fruit of the Righteous is a Tree of Life, and Whoever Captures Souls is Wise.

John 14:6

Yahusha said to him, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No One Comes to the Father Except Through Me.”

John 3:36

“He who Believes in the Son has Everlasting Life; and he Who Does Not Believe the Son Shall Not See Life, but the Wrath of Yahuah Abides on him.”

“No life” does not mean Physical Death. It means No Eternal Life, no Union with Yahuah. The One (1) Who Rejects Yahusha’s Sacrifice (Refuses to “Eat and Drink”) remains Dead in Trespasses and Sins.

Ephesians 2:1

And You He Made Alive, who Were Dead in Trespasses and Sins.

The Life Given for Atonement “Blood”

Leviticus 17:11

“For the Life of the Flesh is in the Blood, and I have Given it to you upon the altar to make Atonement for your Souls; for it is the Blood that Makes Atonement for the Soul.”

Matthew 26:28

“For this is My Blood of the New Covenant, which is Shed for Many for the Remission of Sins.”

Under the Turah, Drinking Blood was Strictly Forbidden because Blood belonged to Yahuah for Atonement. When Yahusha says “Drink My Blood,” He is saying: Accept My Blood as the Atonement for Your Sins. You Cannot “Drink” Blood under the Old Covenant; but under the New Covenant, you Spiritually Receive the Atoning Power of His Blood by Amunah (Faith). Drinking = Remembering and Believing that His Blood Cleanses you from Sin.

1 John 1:7

“The Blood of Yahusha His Son Cleanses us from all Sin.”

“Eternal Life” and “Raise Him Up” – The Full Promise

John 6:54

“Whoever Eats My Flesh and Drinks My Blood has Eternal Life, and I will Raise Him Up at the Last Day.”

John 11:25–26

“I am the Resurrection and the Life. He who Believes in Me, though he may Die, he Shall Live.”

Eating and Drinking (Believing and Receiving) gives Present Possession of Eternal Life (“has Eternal Life”). It is not a Future Hope only; it is a Current Reality. The Future Resurrection is the Final Seal of that Life.

John 6:63

“It is the Ruach who Gives Life; the Flesh Profits Nothing. The Words that I Speak to you are Ruach, and they are Life.”

1 Corinthians 10:16–17

The Bread which we Break, is it not the Communion of the Body of the Mashyach? For We, though Many, are One (1) Bread and One (1) Body; for We All Partake of that One (1) Bread.”

Yahusha Himself says His Words are Ruach (Spirit) and Life. Therefore:

  • Eating His Flesh = Taking His Words into your Inner Being, Believing that His Body was Broken for you.
  • Drinking His Blood = Accepting His Death as your Atonement, Trusting that His Blood Covers your Sins.

The Physical act of Unleavened Bread and Wine (Masters Supper) is a Symbolic Rehearsal of this Spiritual Truth. But the Symbol is not the Reality. Many Eat the Bread and Drink the Cup unworthily, because they do not Discern the Master’s Body, i.e., they Do Not Truly Believe. The Life Comes from Amunah (Faith), not from the Ritual.

1 Corinthians 11:27–29

Therefore Whoever Eats this Bread or Drinks this Cup of the Master in an Unworthy Manner will be Guilty of the Body and Blood of the Master. But let a Man Examine Himself, and So let him Eat of the Bread and Drink of the Cup. For He Who Eats and Drinks in an Unworthy Manner Eats and Drinks Judgment to Himself, not Discerning the Master’s Body.

This is not about being Perfectly Worthy, No One is, but about Approaching the Memorial with Serious Reflection, Repentance, and Love for other Believers. Before Eating and Drinking, individuals must Examine themselves, and to ensure they understand the Significance of the Sacrifice.

Romans 10:8–10

“The Word is near you, in your Mouth and in your Heart that is, the Word of Amunah (Faith) which we Proclaimed: that if you Confess with your Mouth the Master Yahusha and Believe in your Heart that Yahuah Raised Him from the Dead, you will be Saved.”

The Pesach (Passover) lamb (Yahusha) has been Slain. Now, you Must Take Him into Yourself by Amunah (Faith). That is the Only Way to Have Life. Bringing the Lamb into your Home is incomplete until you feed on Him. This means:

  • Daily Reading and Obeying the Word (Yahusha is the Word made Flesh John 1:14).
  • Removing leaven (Sin) from your Life as you Eat (1 Corinthians 5:8).
  • Tasting the Bitterness of Repentance (Bitter Herbs) and the Sincerity of Truth (Unleavened Bread).

Set aside time each day during Pesach (Passover) and Unleavened Bread to Read the Besorah (Good News/Gospel), especially the Account of Yahusha’s Death. Let His Words become your Food. Once the Lamb is in your Home Spiritually, you cannot Keep Him there while Harboring Leaven. Leaven is Hypocrisy, Malice, Wickedness, False Doctrine (Matthew 16:12, Luke 12:1). To Bring the Lamb in:

  • Confess and Forsake Hidden Sins (Proverbs 28:13).
  • Remove from your Home any Objects tied to Idolatry or False Worship.
Deuteronomy 7:26

“Nor Bring an Abomination into your House.”

You are Saved by the Blood of Yahusha, not by Your Leaven Removal. Leaven Removal is your Response, not your Ransom.

You cannot Prepare for Pesach (Passover) without the Blood. The Leaven (Sin) is Removed by your Effort (Sweeping the House). The Judgment is Removed by Yahuah’s Provision (the Blood). Do not Mix the Two (2). You are Saved by the Blood of Yahusha, not by Your Leaven Removal. Leaven Removal is your Response, not your Ransom.

Exodus 12:11, 15

“And thus you Shall eat it: with a Belt on your Waist, your Sandals on your Feet, and your Staff in your Hand. So you Shall eat it in Haste. It is Yahuah’s Pesach (Passover). Seven (7) Days you Shall eat Unleavened Bread. On the First (1st) Day you Shall Remove Leaven from your Houses.”

1 Corinthians 5:6–8

Do you not know that a little Leaven Leavens the whole Lump? Therefore Purge out the Old Leaven, that you may be a New Lump… For indeed Mashyach, our Pesach (Passover), was Sacrificed for us. Therefore let us Keep the Feast, not with Old Leaven, nor with the Leaven of Malice and Wickedness, but with the Unleavened Bread of Sincerity and Truth.

“In Haste”: When Yahusha (our Pesach (Passover)) Dies, there is no time to let the dough rise. Rising represents Pride, Delay, and the Slow Fermentation of Sin. Salvation Demands Immediate Obedience.

“Remove leaven”: Scripture defines leaven as:

  1. Malice (evil intent)
  2. Wickedness (lawlessness)
  3. Hypocrisy (Luke 12:1)

“Seven (7) Days”: Seven (7) is the number of completion. You do not just “Accept” Yahusha; you Walk out the Duration of Your Life without the Old Yeast of Mytsrym (Egypt/Bondage). Preparing for Unleavened Bread is a Spiritual Audit. Walk through your House (your Heart). Where is the Pride? Where is the False Doctrine? Where is the Anger that has been Sitting and Rising? Sweep it Out. Do Not just Hide it (like Selling Leaven to a Neighbor). Scripture says Remove it.

The Bitter Herbs – The Reality of Bondage

Exodus 12:8

“They Shall eat the Flesh on that Night, Roasted in Fire, with Unleavened Bread and with Bitter Herbs they Shall eat it.”

Numbers 9:11

They Shall eat it with Unleavened Bread and Bitter Herbs.

“Bitter Herbs” (Maror): Scripture defines these as a Memorial of the Bitterness of Slavery. You cannot truly Celebrate Pesach (Passover) until you Remember what Sin did to you. When you Eat the Bread (Yahusha’s Body) and Drink the Cup (His Blood), You Must Remember the Bitterness of the Mytsrym (Egyptian) Bondage of Sin. If your Testimony is not “Bitter” Regarding your Past, you Have No Appreciation for the “Sweetness” of the Lamb.

False Teachers Remove the Bitter Herbs. They Preach a Gospel without Repentance. Scripture says the Pesach (Passover) meal included Bitterness. Preparing for Yahuah’s Feast means Recalling the Sorrow of Sin, so the Joy of Salvation is Real.

The Stranger and the Covenant

Exodus 12:48–49

“And when a Stranger Dwells with you and Wants to Keep the Pesach (Passover) to Yahuah, let all his Males be Circumcised, and then Let him Come near and Keep it; and he Shall be as a Native of the Land… One Turah (law) Shall be for the Native-Born and for the Stranger who Dwells among you.”

“The Stranger”: That is you if you are Not Physically from Yasharal (Israel). You are Grafted in.

Romans 11:1–4

I say then, has Yahuah cast away His People? Certainly not! For I also am a Yasharalite (Israelite), of the Seed of Abraham, of the Tribe of Benjamin. Yahuah has not cast away His People Whom He Foreknew. Or Do you not Know What the Scripture says of AlYahu (Elijah), how he Pleads with Yahuah against Yasharalite (Israelite), saying, “Yahuah, they have Killed Your Prophets and Torn down Your Altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life”? But what does the Divine Response Say to him? “I have Reserved for Myself Seven thousand (7000) men who have not Bowed the Knee to Baal (The Lord).”

Romans 11:11–12

I say then, have they Stumbled that they Should Fall? Certainly Not! But through their Fall, to Provoke them to Jealousy, Salvation has Come to the Gentiles. Now if their Fall is Riches for the World, and their Failure Riches for the Gentiles, how Much More their Fullness!

Romans 11:16–21

For if the Firstfruit is Qadush (Holy), the lump is also Qadush (Holy); and if the Root is Qadush (Holy), so are the Branches. And if some of the Branches were Broken Off, and you, being a Wild Olive Tree, were Grafted in among them, and With them became a Partaker of the Root and Fatness of the Olive Tree, do not Boast against the Branches. But if you do Boast, Remember that you do not Support the Root, but the Root Supports You. You will Say then, “Branches were Broken Off that I Might be Grafted in.” Well said. Because of Unbelief they were Broken Off, and you Stand by Amunah (Faith). Do not be Haughty, but Fear. For if Yahuah did not Spare the Natural Branches, He may Not Spare you either.

“Circumcision”: Under the Abraham Covenant, Physical Circumcission. Under the New Covenant Circumcision is of the Heart, performed by the Ruach HaQudesh.

Romans 2:29

but he is a Hebrew Who is One (1) Inwardly; and Circumcision is that of the Heart, in the Ruach, not in the Letter; Whose Praise is not from men but from Alahym.

Deuteronomy 10:16

“Circumcise your Hearts, therefore, and do not be Stiff-Necked any longer.”

Deuteronomy 30:6

“Yahuah your Alahym will Circumcise your Hearts and the Hearts of your Descendants, so that you May Love Him with all your Heart and with all your Soul, and Live.”

Jeremiah 4:4

“Circumcise yourselves to Yahuah; Remove the Foreskin of your Hearts, O men of Yahudah (Judah)…”.

Colossians 2:11–12

In Him you were also Circumcised with the Circumcision made without Hands, by Putting Off the Body of the Sins of the Flesh, by the Circumcision of Mashyach, Buried with Him in Immersion (Baptism), in which you also were Raised with Him through Amunah (Faith) in the Working of Alahym, who Raised Him.

“One (1) Turah (law)”: There is no “Christian (Easter)” vs. “Hebrew Pesach.” There is only Yahuah’s Pesach (Passover).

Ephesians 2:13, 19

But now in Yahusha HaMashyach you who once were Far Off have been brought near by the Blood of the Mashyach… Now you are no longer Strangers and Foreigners, but Fellow Citizens with the Set-Apart Ones.

Jeremiah 31:31–34

Behold, the days are coming, says Yahuah, when I will make a new Covenant with the House of Yasharal (Israel) and with the House of Yahudah (Judah) not according to the Covenant that I Made with their Fathers in the Day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Mytsrym (Egypt), My Covenant which they Broke, though I was a Husband to them, says Yahuah. But this is the Covenant that I will make with the house of Yasharal (Israel) after those Days, says Yahuah: I will put My Turah (law) in their Minds, and Write it on their Hearts; and I will be their Alahym, and they Shall be My People. No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know Yahuah,’ for they all Shall Know Me, from the least of them to the Greatest of them, says Yahuah. For I will Forgive their Iniquity, and their Sin I will remember no more.”

HalluYAH, for his Covenant of Redemption that he has called us to Remember.

HalleluYAH!

A Loving Reminder & Important Note About This Article

No single article on this website — including this one — represents the full breadth of what the Assembly of Yahuah believes and teaches. Each article is derived from the teachings of our elders, whose study always begins and ends with Scripture. The goal is never to tell you what to think — only to show you what the Word says. Our aim is to provide enough Scripture to encourage you to look into the Scriptures for yourself. If you see something differently, know that no one here is mocking you or your position. Disagreement does not mean disunity. (Romans 14:1; Ephesians 4:2-3) Questions are encouraged; we've all had questions throughout our journey with Yah.
